Now we have the answer, as Blizzard have overturned the ban (and presumably sanctioned the GM in question, as he was either being overzealous or a bit of a fan of the streamer) and clarified that dispelling world buffs is not a bannable offense. There were discussions on whether the ban was for something other than griefing, like using macros or similar, as it just didn't make sense for someone to be banned for PvPing on a PvP server. As you can imagine, this made a lot of players concerned, as dispelling world buffs is a pretty common PvP thing that happens. While streaming, Arlaeus said he was being targeted specifically via a macro and a GM responded in the twitch chat and asked for details, after which he seemed to actual ban the dispelling player. The suspension was for 6 months over 4 accounts linked with the player's IP, due to previous suspensions. ![]() Earlier today we saw a player get suspended by a Classic GM after dispelling world buffs from streamer Arlaeus. ![]() While it's unfortunate someone might have lost their job over this, at least it was handled swiftly and the larger playerbase got a clear message of Blizzard's intentions on the subject.
